We go behind the scenes to meet the makers, doers and shakers of some of our favourite small brands.
Our Afterpay community is made up of more than 50,000 small businesses in Australia. Supporting small for us means championing independent thinkers and creators, helping local communities to thrive, and celebrating what is unique and different.
That’s why we’ve created our Afterpay Small Stories series; to shine a light on the craftsmanship, creativity and pure hustle that drives everything these guys do. Here are their stories.
The Critical Slide Society
The Critical Slide Society’s story started as a humble surf blog by Jim Mitchell and Sam Coombes. Today, TCSS is a popular surf-wear brand with the principal aim of bringing together like-minded people.
St. Agni
Known for their iconic woven shoe and sustainable practices, meet Lara and Matt Fells, the visionaries behind women’s luxury lifestyle brand St. Agni, as they let us in on the passions that drive them and the craftsmanship behind every handmade design.
Restated Vintage
Founded by Ben Randall in Sydney’s Northern Beaches, Restaged Vintage is now Australia and New Zealand’s largest vintage online store. Ever since its humble beginnings, the fashion destination has been about thrifted clothing, recycling hundreds of items of clothing a month.
Nikau
Nikki Ogilvy and Nicole Steele, the creative minds behind the botanical, ceramic and floral emporium of Nikau, in Byron Bay, are passionate about good vibes, sustainable design, original handmade products and, in their own words, ‘all things green’. When you buy from Nikau, you’re supporting independent artists with the same sustainable mindset as the founders.
F+H Jewellery
Representing a balance between toughness and beauty, Sharona Harris’s premium jewellery weaves together exquisite craftsmanship and sustainable thinking into beautiful bold designs.
EveryHuman
Inclusivity is the name of the game for EveryHuman, a curated online store for stylish adaptive clothing, accessories and footwear. Founder Matt Skerritt launched the brand for the 1 in 5 people in Australia living with a disability, with the aim of empowering people to be proud of who they are; adaptive clothing doesn’t have to mean unfashionable threads.
