High Quality Made & Designed With Love
Hypoallergenic & Safe For Sensitive Ears!

Hey Lovely!

I’m Peta,

All my pieces are designed from my home studio in Melbourne, Australia by me xo

I am the owner, creator, illustrator, designer (too many hats to mention). I love earrings, fashion and to create wearable art that’s especially recognisable to my brand.

Creating art is everything for me, and knowing you get to wear something that stands out, starts conversations, brings you confidence, makes you feel incredibly AMAZING is the driving force in what I do!

Thank you for your support in my dream business. I hope you find one, or several of my designs you love. ❤️ Peta xo

💛 The Earring Facts 💛

I have sensitive ears! Can I wear your earrings?

Sensitive ears? I hear you! (see what I did there? 😉)

Short answer.. YES! They are hypoallergenic.

All our earring stud posts, backings, hooks and hoops are made from high quality surgical stainless steel. Perrrrfect for sensitive ears!

Long answer.. and something to note for anything that's hypoallergenic.

"Hypoallergenic" refers to products or materials that are less likely to cause allergic reactions in individuals who are sensitive or allergic to certain substances.

For example, in the context of jewellery, hypoallergenic materials are those that are less likely to cause irritation or allergic reactions when worn against the skin, particularly for people with metal sensitivities.

We all have different skin sensitivities. But I use the highest grade stainless steel and plating methods to ensure 99.99% of you won't have a reaction. It is the safest type of steel known to be most safe for jewellery. Less likely to cause reaction over cheap alloy metals or even silver or gold. If you have had a reaction to silver or gold and think you just can't wear earrings - it is likely stainless steel will be amazing for you. If you have super sensitive ears like mine.. It will likely be AMAZING for you. But for a really really really REALLY small percentage of people who are extremely sensitive it could still bother you. And that's just the facts. I always suggest getting one pair to try if you are new to stainless steel and see how it goes with your skin. Most people find it a game changer after trying everything else so this is why I use it. I stopped wearing earrings for so long cause everything irritated me. But stainless steel (High Grade) really is Queen!!

Also plating... like rose gold colour on hoops and so on is all done with high quality precision and should not cause any irritation due to the base being surgical steel YAY!

Are the earrings lightweight?

99.99% of our earrings are extremely light weight (yes even the really big ones). Anything double layered (so designs where you see more than one colour acrylic used on a single piece of the earring) can be heavier than single acrylic designs (depending on the size too). So if you are unsure it's always best to purchase one pair and then you will know for next time. We all have different sensitivities so always feel free to reach out if you have any questions at all xo

The Hey Polly Earring Difference

Short answer.. It's all about the quality and attention to detail.. I am a perfectionist and I will never make/design something that is not of a high quality or standard.

Love a long rant? Strap in..

For example.. I have seen layered acrylic designs out in the world (Not Hey Polly) quite frankly.. slapped together (sorry I have no other words for this). They look like care has not gone into them.. or like they don't know how to graphic design or cut materials seamlessly. Or hand painting is only done with one layer of paint (I do multiple, yes this takes more time but it's worth it for the finish). OR their laser machine is not set up correctly that it cuts rough and shonky.. I could go on. And on.. and... on.

It bothers me as I think it sets a bad name for handmade and small business. Anything I make/sell is a representation of my brand and that is hugely important to me. I scrutinize my designs before they are shipped out to you.

Earrings all have their own little quirks or imperfections. For example mirror acrylics often react to high quality strong glue and casts a ring like appearance. Things like that are normal.. but like.. the many things I mentioned above (and one I didn't mention - Poor jewellery assembly) are just not something you will find here. For me there is a very big difference between handmade small biz. Quality, general acceptable quirks are one thing and poorly made is another..

Small businesses that quality check their pieces are pure gold.. and this shouldn't be rare.. but unfortunately it is.

So - my main difference is quality and care with my designs.. Many many years of trial and error to know what works best so my pieces with good care can be enjoyed for many years to come.

Also my brain is wild and always comes up with great ideas. 😊 xo
