At Davis Gorton, our mission is to pioneer groundbreaking solutions and provide high-quality rural products that cater to the diverse needs of hobby farmers and large-scale agricultural operations. Our Products
Our first rural product – an innovative farm gate, is in pre-production. This Australian-designed and owned product aims to help solve the problem of the limitations of the standard gate – that same ol’ gate that’s on every farm!
As farmers, we were transitioning from timber fence posts to concrete posts. As we grazed cattle between two paddocks, the pre-fab holes in the concrete posts created a problem with swinging gates and having the ability to have the gate fully open and out of the way of stock.
This presented an opportunity for an innovative, problem-solving solution. With a fitting and machining background, Rodney took to the workshop and created the revolutionary double-hinged farm gate to solve this problem.
When we talked to other farmers about our design, we were encouraged to bring it to market as there had never been a gate innovation like this!

The Challenges
Existing farm gates, including those currently on the market, have limited transverse so often can’t be fully opened and are limited by the type of post they are swung on:
- Stock can get stuck behind gate or potentially damage the gate while being moved between paddocks
- Potential safety issue if people have to hold a gate open, especially if working on their own
- Gate is often only able to be opened in one direction
- Gates that need to remain open are propped open, often unsuccessfully
