Introducing Afterpay’s new Shop Directory Recommendations

We’re excited to announce that Afterpay’s Shop Directory, our in-app retailer and brand discovery engine, now features a new section called “Recommended.”

Recommended provides customers with highly personalized brand and retailer suggestions, powered by an internally developed machine learning model based on a customer’s purchase history.

We invested in this feature to better serve our growing family of Afterpay retail and brand partners. In the digital age, personalization is key to providing customers with an engaging and memorable shopping experience. According to Salesforce research, 84% of customers say being treated like a person, not a number, is integral to winning their business – and customers are more than twice as likely to view a personalized offer as important compared to a generic one.

In addition to personalization and innovation, customers also want the brands they interact with to be easily discoverable. At Afterpay, we’re proud to send more than 7 million referrals to U.S. brands and retailers every month. We expect for Recommendations to increase referrals even more as customers scroll through their suggestions and find new brands to love.
