Sustainable Shopping: Earth-Friendly Beauty & Fashion Brands to Feel Good About

What better feeling can a customer get than knowing that the brand they’re supporting is also supporting the Earth? This couldn’t be truer for today’s generation of shoppers, who overwhelmingly prefer to spend their hard-earned dollars on do-good brands.

According to recent research, 62% of Gen Z, the influential generation set to enter the workforce this year, prefer to purchase from sustainable brands -- and this sentiment isn’t just talk. Fifty-four percent of Gen Zers state that they are willing to spend more on sustainable products, with 50% of Millennials saying the same. The connection between people, planet, and profit is only growing stronger.

At Afterpay, we’re proud to partner with hundreds of Brands That Do Good. In honor of Earth Day, we’re highlighting hand-picked sustainable beauty and fashion brands. Check them out at our Earth Day Everyday page for inspiration to guide your brand in being more sustainable.

Baggu: Baggu creates bags for people and the planet. Founded with the vision of creating durable yet sustainable tote bags, the team designs its products to minimize waste, use sustainable materials, and is committed to ethical and environmentally responsible practices in its manufacturing. All of Baggu’s Ripstop Nylon styles are made with 40% recycled materials and environmentally responsible dyes that are fully absorbed by the material during production, minimizing runoff. Nearly all the brand’s cotton canvas bags are made from 65% recycled cotton made from pre-consumer waste that would otherwise have gone to a landfill. What’s more, when a Baggu bag’s lifespan is over, customers can return it to any Baggu store locations or ship it to its headquarters for it to be recycled, repurposed or donated.

Amour Vert: Empowering customers to be effortlessly chic while being effortlessly sustainable is the philosophy behind California-grown brand Amour Vert. The brand’s sustainability practices address all aspects of its business operations and the full lifecycle of a garment— the fibers and production processes used, how workers are treated, how it gets to the consumer and finally, whether it can be recycled. For every t-shirt purchased, Amour Vert plants a tree in collaboration with American Forests®. And its environmental initiatives are paying off – since its founding, the brand has planted over 300,000 trees in North American forests. That translates to over 125,000 CO2 emissions being sequestered, the equivalent of taking nearly 30,000 cars off the road, 11 billion+ gallons of water replenished and over 1,500 acres reforested. And with 97% of its products made within three miles of its San Francisco office, you can feel good about supporting this hyperlocal, earth-friendly brand.
