‘Faster checkout’ lets you skip the login step when you return to check out with Afterpay on a trusted device.
How does it work?
When checking out with Afterpay, we'll automatically remember your device so you won't need to re-enter your details on your next checkout. You can opt out any time by tapping/clicking ‘Not on this device’.
If you opt in, you'll receive an email confirming that 'Faster Checkout' is active on your device. Similarly, if you opt out, you’ll receive an email that ‘Faster Checkout’ has been disabled.
Next time you check out with Afterpay on that device, you won’t need to enter your email address or password for your Afterpay account.
To keep your account secure, a trusted device stays remembered for as long as you keep using it, up to a maximum of 12 months. After that - or if a device goes unused for an extended period - we'll ask you to verify your identity again.
How do I opt out of ‘Faster Checkout’?
Via the app:
Log in to the app and tap the icon on the bottom right to open the 'My Afterpay' tab.
Tap the icon in the top right, and choose 'Login Settings'.
Under 'Login Activity', tap 'Log out' next to the device you wish to remove.
Via the website:
Log in to your account via the Afterpay website and click 'Account' in the upper left of your screen (on mobile, tap the three lines in the upper left, then 'Account').
Click 'Security'.
Under 'Your devices', click 'Log out' next to the device you wish to remove.
Note: You’ll receive an email confirming that Faster Checkout has been deactivated on that device.
When might I need to verify my identity again?
In some cases, we may ask you to verify your identity again - for example, by entering a one-time code or logging in with your email address and password. This can happen if:
We notice unusual activity
It’s been a while since you last checked out on that device
You're located in New York (identity revalidation is required every 30 days)
Received an email and don't recognize the change?
If you don't recognise a device listed on your account, we recommend logging it out immediately using the instructions above. You can also contact us for further assistance.
