Returning goods in-store using Afterpay Card

Returns are subject to the retailer’s returns policy. Check with the retailer before returning an online purchase in store. Some retailers do not accept online purchases for in-store returns.

For online orders, read Can I return an online purchase using the Afterpay Card?.

Return your purchase

  1. Select Orders in the Afterpay app.

  2. Select the order you want to return.

  3. Scroll down to view the order details.

  4. Select Return Order.

  5. Select Returning In-Store.

  6. Select Refund to Afterpay Card

  7. Hold your phone near the card reader at the register.

Keep the retailer’s receipt as confirmation of your return.

What happens to your refund

If the return is successful, the retailer sends the refund to your Afterpay Card. We then process the refund. It can take up to 10 business days for the refund to appear in your Afterpay account. We’ll return any payments you’ve already made for the returned items to your card.

What happens to your refund

You may need to match the refund to the correct order in the Afterpay app. Check the notification when you log in:

  • Complete refund: Follow the in-app instructions to match the refund to the correct order. We’ll also send you a text message if you need to take action.

  • Unable to find a match: You do not need to do anything. We’ll match the refund to your order for you.

Find the card number shown on your receipt

For security, Apple Pay and Google Pay use a digital card number for your Afterpay Card. Your receipt shows the last four digits of that digital number, rather than the number shown on your Afterpay Card.

You can find the digital card number in your wallet app.

Apple Pay

  1. Open the Wallet app.

  2. Select Afterpay Card.

  3. Select the more options () button.

  4. Find your device account number.

 Google Pay

  1. Open the Google Pay app.

  2. Select Afterpay Card.

  3. Scroll to the virtual account number.
