Three colours we’re seeing everywhere this winter

By Sarah Sullivan

Just because winter is around the corner doesn’t mean we have to retreat to black and navy. This season’s colour trend is anything but. Taking inspiration from nature, colour is popping in hues of cool jade and sweet lilac.

We’re also seeing a re-run of the ever-popular camel, which adds an element of style to any look and pairs flawlessly with crisp whites and classic neutral tones.

From accessories to outwear and everything in between, our latest Bi-Annual Fashion and Beauty Trend Report for Autumn/Winter 2021 reveals what colours our Afterpay customers just can’t get enough of. So, let’s take a deeper dive into the colours that have been running through your wardrobes and where to shop the latest looks.

Chic camel

Camel is such a timeless colour thanks to the neutrality of its tone and, let’s be honest, because of how darn good it looks with pretty much everything you pair it with.

The big push towards neutral tones this season makes camel the ideal wardrobe companion. Pair it with whites, blacks, and creams or accessorise with animal prints to spice up your look.

If you’re feeling extra bold, try pairing your camel with other shades of brown. But we warned, to nail this look you’ve got get the combo just right.

Joyous jade

They say green is the colour of calmness and after such a hectic 2020, it’s no surprise to see the emergence of jade for autumn/winter 2021.

Jade is like the goldilocks of colours—not too extravagant and not too minimalistic. Softer, pastel shades are ideal for pairing with light wash denim or a wide-leg pant, finished off with a classic white shoe.

Pop shades of jade through your look with a statement blazer, or a tote or heels in mint. And when the winter chill finally hits, wrap yourself in a sage green trench or oversized cardigan.

Luxurious lilac

Pastels were massive in the ’80s, but they seriously lacked style. Not anymore. Stylish two-piece suits in shades of soft lilac, mauve and lavender are a must. Wear it with a simple tee and circle-buckle belt.

But don’t hold back in your styling. Top up your look with violet sunnies or lilac earrings, and then round it out with a matching bag or heels.

If you’re looking for complementary colours, you’re in luck. Lilac is all about versatility. It’s the perfect colour to combine with lemon, mint, white, blush and maya blue.
