Jess Pecoraro’s Top Styling Tips for Winter

Keeping toasty while looking fabulous is no mean feat. No doubt, winter can often leave us reaching for cosy leisurewear in every shade of black, abandoning all fashion ambitions as soon as the temperature drops. But here to up our winter style game is one of Australia's most in-demand fashion gurus and celeb stylists, Jess Pecoraro.

No stranger to AAFW, Jess is set to style some of the event's major shows, including Afterpay's highly-anticipated Future of Fashion show. Get ready to update and elevate your winter wardrobe with Jess's Top Winter Styling Tips.

What are your top styling tips for this winter?

JESS: Winter is all about layering and playing with texture. I think many people reach for black in winter, but I tend to incorporate darker shades and love a pop of colour. If you want to invest in anything this winter, I'd recommend investing in a statement jacket or coat and keeping it super simple underneath, pairing it with jeans and a plain t-shirt or turtleneck. It's a really easy way to get a cool look without having to think too hard or overspend.

What are the 3 winter staples you can't live without?

JESS: A good winter coat and a nice wool blend pant. At the moment, I'm loving high top sneakers as an alternative to boots. Opt for leather so they can survive the rain!

Are there any particular brands or designers will you be wearing this winter?

JESS: Camilla and Marc are definitely at the forefront of all things winter and are my go-to for all things tailored, beautiful pants and coats. P.E Nation is great for weekends, off-duty looks and puffer jackets. My top tip for puffer jackets is always to buy bigger or try a men's size, the more oversized the better. And Rachel Gilbert for party wear, weddings and winter events. She does evening really well with lots of great long sleeve dresses.

What are your go-to winter accessories?

JESS: Sunnies, I'm loving my all-black Ray-Bans. I think faux fur or fuzzy textured bags are really fun for winter, and although I love my high tops, a nice chunky boot is a must.

What do you think we can expect from AAFW this year?

JESS: A really amazing mix of brands and looks with something for everyone. Post-covid, I think everyone is excited to show their collections and have some fun!

Which designers are you most excited about this season?

JESS: Mariam Seddiq's shows are always fun; her pieces are like walking works of art. Also very excited for Rumer, which I am helping to style. Romance was Born always put on a show that is a real performance, so I'm looking forward to that.
