Frequently asked questions
How is Pay Monthly different from Pay in 4?
Pay in 4 splits a purchase into 4 interest-free payments over 6 weeks. Pay Monthly splits a larger purchase into fixed monthly payments over 6, 12, or 24 months. Pay Monthly is a separate product, with its own application and its own spend limit, designed for bigger purchases. Right now, only Pay Monthly is available at Apple.
What does 0% p.a. interest at Apple mean?
For a limited time, there is 0% p.a. interest on Pay Monthly orders at Apple. You pay the purchase price, split evenly across your chosen term. No interest, no setup fees, no ongoing fees. Late fees apply for missed payments.
What is the Pay Monthly spend limit?
Pay Monthly spend limits range from $1,000 to $20,000, subject to your preference and individual assessment and approval. Your spend limit is established when you apply and stays available for future purchases without needing to reapply. Your Pay Monthly limit is separate and in addition to your Pay in 4 limit. You can view both limits and manage both Pay Monthly and Pay in 4 orders in the app.
Who can apply?
You'll need to be an existing Afterpay Pay in 4 customer to apply for Pay Monthly, with a valid debit card linked as your preferred payment method. If you're not yet an Afterpay Pay in 4 customer, you'll be prompted to apply in the Apple checkout. We run a credit check as part of both applications. Eligibility is subject to approval.
Can I use a credit card to make my Pay Monthly payments?
No. Pay Monthly requires a debit card to be linked as your preferred payment method. Credit cards cannot be linked to a Pay Monthly account. If you're an existing Afterpay Pay in 4 customer with a credit card linked as your preferred payment method, you'll be prompted to update it when you apply.
What happens if I miss a payment?
A $17 late fee applies when a payment is missed. If still unpaid 7 days later, an additional $12 fee applies. Pay Monthly late fees are capped at the lower of 15% of the order amount or $250. Late fees do not accrue interest.
Can I make an early payment?
Yes. You can pay off your Pay Monthly order at any time, either partially or fully. There are no fees to do this. Paying off early means you pay less total interest, when an interest rate applies.
Where else can I use Pay Monthly?
Apple is Afterpay's exclusive launch partner for Pay Monthly. Afterpay continuously reviews where our products are offered based on customer needs and feedback. Check the app for future updates.
