A pending order is a Pay Monthly order that’s been approved but hasn’t activated yet. It’s waiting for Apple to confirm your item has shipped or is ready for collection in store.
What happens while your order is pending
No scheduled payments, fees, or interest apply until your order activates.
A temporary hold is placed on your Pay Monthly available to spend for the financed amount.
Any down payment or pay in full amounts were charged to your debit card at checkout. You won’t be charged for those again.
When does it activate?
Your order activates when Apple confirms your item has shipped or is ready for collection in store. At that point:
We’ll send your payment schedule to you by email and you’ll be able to see it in My Afterpay.
The temporary hold on your available to spend is released.
Your first payment is due one month after your order activates.
Example: You place an order on 8 July. Apple ships your order on 12 July and your order activates. Your first scheduled payment is due 12 August.
Pre-orders
Apple pre-orders work the same way. They show as pending until Apple confirms your item has shipped or is ready for collection in store.
If your order is delayed
Your order stays pending and the hold on your available to spend remains in place. Your first scheduled payment will be due one month after your order activates.
If your order is cancelled
If Apple cancels the order, or you cancel before it ships or is ready for collection in store:
The pending order is cancelled.
The hold on your available to spend is released.
No payment schedule is created. There’s nothing to pay on the financed portion of your order.
Any down payment or pay in full amount charged at checkout is refunded to your linked debit card.
